It is with great sadness I am passing on the news that Didi has died.

Didi went AWOL some time on Tuesday afternoon and was found by Tendring police at 7 am the following day, in his car at Gt.Bentley. Other than that no futher details have been confirmed at this time. As soon as any information comes from the Coroner's Office it will be posted here, which will be Monday at the earliest.

Inge's sister has come from Leceister to be with her. I know that she has a strong group of friends supporting her at this difficult time. To avoid offending anyone by leaving them out - I would just like to give a special mention to Merv, Paul and Nikki who suffered a family bereavement only last week - and still put themselves out to contact as many people as possible.

Didi was such an amazing person, who made the most of each day, even when he was suffering so badly. I doubt many of us could have endured what he did, with his grace and honesty. He said what he felt and you always knew where you stood with him whether you liked it or not!

In my mind he will always be at the back of the hall at Mersea and it will be very hard to be there without him. I only hope that I can learn from him and keep him alive in my heart by trying to live from his example; Be open. Be honest. Be true to yourself. Have as much fun with as many people as possible.
Didi - you will be dearly missed x

  2. I think these words may be echoed by most that know him but Didi was one of the most fun guys to be around, always had time for everyone and I know the Condom Committee has lost one of it's most vibrant characters.

  14. Living so far away meant I didn't see you as often as I would have liked. You came into Inges' life and made it happier and fuller than any other man could have. The times I did get to share with you are memorable, your stag night being quite prominant, STILL!! You gave life tremendous colour and were one of its true characters. Oh yes, Cilla is right, who the hell did say germans haven't got a sense of humour.
My thoughts are with Inge at this sad time but the memories of joy and happiness you gave her, along with all our support, will pull her through. Just one more thing. For those people who didn't know Didi; you really missed out.
    See ya Didi, love you.

  17. Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away.

  18. Couldn´t believe what I´ve read some day´s ago! I´m one of the german guy´s who have been moretimes to the Condom Rally. Therefore, I´m very sad about that bad news, because there was no chance last years to come again and have party with Didi! He was always pleased at gate, if he recognised us, after we took helmets off.
Be sure, me and my friends will never forget you Didi!
I´m proud to know you my friend!

    Sincere condolences to Inge.
