Memorial for Didi

One year anniversary

Inge asked me to put something appropriate on here to mark the anniversary of your passing on to pastures new. In the time honoured fashioned I've had a (few!) smokes and thought about it.

Initially I just thought BOLLOX ! may be enough.

But as I sat here thinking that it really wouldnt be enough, I had a realisation.
I think Didi was with me earlier today.

I quit my job today!

After months of soul destroying agonising, I made a snap decision.

Life's too short.

Out of the many things from Didi, that will always stay with me, is that you only get one shot at this. So make it the best you can.

Maybe it seems odd but my best memory of Didi, is him as a fire work.
A brilliant sparkling shower of stars, reaching up into the night sky.
Finally free to soar with the stars.

Reach out and aim high my friends x

I wish to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart for the donations made at Didi's Memorial Party.

I also wish to congratulate Paul T and his helpers on an excellent fireworks display. It was appreciated by everyone who was there.

Thank you SaltDog and HokeyJoint for agreeing to play.

A 'Thank you' to Tosh for doing the disco.

Thank you to Lynn and Paul W and Debbie for raising £171 with the sale of raffle tickets, which bumped up the donations to £795, an amazing sum. This will certainly keep the wolves from the door for a while.

Not to forget the Condom Committe who made it all happen in the frst place and everybody else who helped.

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves (certainly enough people were dancing). Many thanks again, and see you all at the Condom Rally (or before). It was a brilliant night altogether and Didi would have been proud to have known that so many friends cared.

What a great night! 2 fab bands, Dj Tosh ( in the house!!!) and awesome fireworks.
Keith has some great photo's of these on his website.

Inge would like to thank every one and let you know we raised an amazing £795.

Thank you all very much for the lovely flowers, thoughtful cards and the many generous donations towards Didi's funeral, too numerous to mention by name. You all know who you are!
Also thank you for the lovely comments on the website.

Special thanks to Merv & Netty and Paul & Nikki for helping with the funeral arrangements. Charlie with the music. Pip for setting up this memorial site and Gary for the memorial on 'Starship Overflow'. My sister Ellen and Sharon for their moral support, which goes for everybody and the many kind offers of help you have given me.

I hope I havent left anybody out. If I have, you have not been forgotten, only mislaid temporarily. Thank you all very much again.

Well, that's all, except life without Didi won't be the same from now on. I miss him dreadfully already.

Funeral Arrangements

It is with great sadness I am passing on the news that Didi has died.

Didi went AWOL some time on Tuesday afternoon and was found by Tendring police at 7 am the following day, in his car at Gt.Bentley. Other than that no futher details have been confirmed at this time. As soon as any information comes from the Coroner's Office it will be posted here, which will be Monday at the earliest.

Inge's sister has come from Leceister to be with her. I know that she has a strong group of friends supporting her at this difficult time. To avoid offending anyone by leaving them out - I would just like to give a special mention to Merv, Paul and Nikki who suffered a family bereavement only last week - and still put themselves out to contact as many people as possible.

Didi was such an amazing person, who made the most of each day, even when he was suffering so badly. I doubt many of us could have endured what he did, with his grace and honesty. He said what he felt and you always knew where you stood with him whether you liked it or not!

In my mind he will always be at the back of the hall at Mersea and it will be very hard to be there without him. I only hope that I can learn from him and keep him alive in my heart by trying to live from his example; Be open. Be honest. Be true to yourself. Have as much fun with as many people as possible.
